LESSON PLAN #1: Career Exploration: revisedcommunicationlessonplan.doc
STUDENT WORK SAMPLE FOR LESSON PLAN #1: Career project Vance Petrella.ppt
REFLECTION ON THE CAREER EXPLORATION LESSON PLAN: The students enjoyed this lesson as it required them to go on the Internet and take an interest profile survey. The survey asked 180 questions and the results were used to suggest possible careers to the students. The students were given the assignment to then create a PowerPoint presentation on a suggested career. Many of the students were quite creative and killed two birds with one stone: they explored careers and then improved upon their PowerPoint skills. This was a successful endeavor, however, as always, there was room for improvement. Upon reflection, the PowerPoint presentation would have been better done as teams as not every student had a computer and this led to down time for some students.

LESSON PLAN #2: Financial Risk Tolerance. revisedfinancallesson.doc
STUDENT WORK SAMPLE FOR LESSON PLAN #2: The lesson required students to work with Google Docs and a Wiki page and the work sample is simply a short entry into a Wiki page: FrontPage
REFLECTION ON FINANCIAL RISK TOLERANCE LESSON PLAN: i was overly ambitious with this lesson plan. The students were exposed to a survey on risk tolerance that I created using Google Docs. This was a good thing; the students were exposed to the many uses of Google Docs. The students were then introduced to wikis and we explored the possible uses of wikis. These Google Docs and the Wiki exposure tied into the larger learning we had been doing over 5 or so weeks; financial literacy and financial planning. However, I then paired students up to compare and contrast their respective financial risk tolerances and we ran out of time to do a quality job. The postings you see on ltcolos wiki page should have been better developed, but since we ran out of time they are not of high quality. I take full responsibility.

REFLECTION ON ACTIVITY #2: Students enjoyed this activity as they are fairly comfortable with Word and they enjoyed learning new capabilities. Other faculty members were appreciative as flyers for different clubs and events were created. Win Win for all
